A young man posing as a courier boy entered a house in Hyderabad and robbed a woman of a gold bracelet worth four tola by pepper spraying her. Based on CCTV footage, the Miyapur police, who took up the investigation, arrested the accused and seized the gold bracelet.
Hyderabad: A young man posing as a courier boy entered a house in Miyapur limits and sprayed pepper spray on a woman and stole a gold mangalsutra, creating a stir. With the help of CCTV footage and technical evidence, the police arrested the accused and sent him to remand. According to police details, the accused, who came in the name of a courier delivery when the victim was alone at home, sprayed pepper spray on the woman’s face and snatched the gold mangalsutra weighing about four tola from her neck and fled from there.
A case was registered after the victim’s husband complained to the Miyapur police about the incident. Based on the CCTV footage, the Miyapur police arrested the accused and seized the gold mangalsutra. During the investigation, the accused was identified as Sheikh Khaja Arshad (20) from Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh. Police said that two criminal cases were previously registered against the accused under the Kanigiri police station limits in Andhra Pradesh.
